Becoming a Host family Being a Host family for an international student, is a rewarding and educational experience for your whole family. Good host families are very important to Koo-ee Experience Australia, and we are always looking for new families to join our long stay and short stay register. Whether this is your first time considering to be a Host Family for an international student, or whether you have hosted many times before, you will discover that hosting through Koo-ee Experience will be a simple and enjoyable experience for you. Before receiving your student you will part About Host Families – information for visiting students Host families are usually from the host school community. Liaison with host families is maintained at all times during the visit. Host families will have a pre-arrival meeting where they are briefed about cultural differences and expectations of their visitor. Host families are provided with host family handbooks and with participant profiles, letters and photographs from participants. Visiting participants are matched with host families and wherever possible the visiting students will be matched with a brother or sister of the same sex and around the same age. During the weekends and evenings students will spend time with their host family and participate in their family’s normal weekend and evening activities. icipate in Host Family Orientation. Here you will receive a Koo-ee Experience Host Family Handbook which is intended as a guide to help make your experience as a host family even more enjoyable. The handbook will enable us to share with you some of the background of the students, some of their cultural characteristics, tips on how to help them with language and advice on helping them settle in and become part of your family. Please complete our host family application form, which will be delivered to a co-ordinator in your area. A representative from our organisation will be in contact with you soon after this.
